Multi-Influence Post-Punk Trio
Seeking Long-term Bassist
NYC
We’re a Post-Punk trio, completely against our will, for the past 6 years. We have a fuck ton of old school and new school influences in a lot of genre, but right now IDLES is a band where we see a good amount of ourselves reflected. (For a bigger list, just ask in the email.)
We’ve released 2 EPs, 4 singles, 6 music videos with our Youtube/Twitch channels and have a relatively good social media presence - when we try; paid social media campaigns, posters, flyers, cards, promo videos, etc. We’re also founders of the “All Hallows’ Scream” yearly Halloween Festival and Party that we’ve headlined in Brooklyn for the past 4 (going on 5) years. We all write, record, produce and manage working towards commercial success.
Personality-wise, we all love video games, food, chill vibes, shenanigans and other dating profile buzz phrases. Individually, one of us is a pop culture nerd, sarcastic and writes bassist ads. Another never dresses for the weather, talks a lot but claims to be quiet and has an unhealthy obsession with Silk Sonic. Another has long flowing fire red hair but hates attention, will literally eat anything to the detriment of his health and is probably a global record holder in gaming but prefers casual playthroughs for some odd reason. Each of us simultaneously needs the move forward, accept opportunities we've turned down and execute plans we've paused but also cannot move forward without being complete.
Covid squashed a lot of opportunities and halted our plans for finding the final member. But we’re looking for someone:
Who wants to be a bassist long-term in a band and known as a bassist; who is willing to put equal amounts of effort in performance, rehearsal and management - someone serious about being a musician, eventually full-time, and working towards just that.
You’re a bassist who likes to collaborate and is open to co-writing a lot of different types of music even though it’s still in a “rock genre”.
If you like us, please send an email including a brief description of yourself, video/audio of you playing and what you’re looking for in a band. After that, we’ll contact you to set up an audition and chat, which usually includes a cover you choose, a cover we choose, one of our originals and a short jam.
